I predict that Beach Read will be one of this summers go to books. The witty banter between the protagonist January and Augustus is entertaining and suspenseful. I loved that this novel wasn’t set in an exotic locale. Instead Emily Henry set up her characters in an all American small town.
Both January and Augustus are novelist’s who’s personal turmoil is effecting their creative productivity. Both characters make a bet to switch genres and whoever’s novel is published first wins.
I could not put this book down, I wanted to savor it and take in the give and take banter between the two characters. However I finished it one day. If you’re looking for an easy diverting read you can’t go wrong with Beach Read.
